Tiny Stories: The Final Wish

Popular belief has it that the universe is comprised of atoms. In reality, the universe is actually made up of…

Aelfdene admitted his truth, and he did so publicly.

It was not an easy thing to tell the entire world that not only was he indeed an authentic djinn, but that all his magic had been depleted years ago when he granted his final wish.

He ended the press interview asking to be left in peace for the remaining years of his life, but people came anyway and they wouldn’t stop coming, at all hours, each of them bearing worthless trinkets and gifts, begging to be made beautiful, healthy, rich, and powerful.

Some even dared to ask to become a djinn, which was the wish that made him mortal.

It’s a shame that we live in a society that hangs more on hopes and wishes than the actual hard work needed to accomplish not only the things that we need but also the things that we want.

He should have become a motivational speaker and preached the laws of attraction. It made Rhonda Byrne rich with The Secret.

Awww, I wish him well. No pun intended.

I like how you’ve twisted this around. Wonderfully coming full circle. If wishes were faces, stony expressions wouldn’t be so prominent. May the djinn find some peace. It isn’t easy to be so common and normal again. That just sucks.
    Great storytelling, Rhyan. 🙂

I couldn’t think of a fate worse than being common and normal.

And I would never presume to speak for the stony-faced community, but I sincerely doubt if a certain granite-countenance-playing-her-cards-close-to-her-vest-editor-who-shall-forever-remain-nameless were to be granted three wishes, “I wish not to have a stony expression” wouldn’t make the list of the Top One Thousand Possible Wishes list.

      Just sayin’.

Lol! You’ve got yourself a wonderful tiny story. I think stone-faced may be the new look of the season. Don’t tell me someone has never tried it. I think on many occasions…
