Popular belief has it that the universe is comprised of atoms. In reality, the universe is actually made up of…

Priscilla wasn’t a foolish woman, she knew full well that alcohol was a bad prescription for the depression that ailed her but it was a necessary evil to help keep her personal demons at bay.
What wasn’t necessary was the incessant song of nightingales that dragged her from a drunken stupor, and even though she was barely lucid, Priscilla knew that her husband was gone. The vacated atmosphere of the tiny one bedroom apartment was undeniable and final.
It was the exact same feeling as when her father abandoned her as a young child, which forced her into the foster care system that shattered her brittle spirit.
Some people simply weren’t meant to be loved, and what good was love anyway if the person you attached your happiness, hopes and dreams to could walk away so easily?
But she’d show them, show them all how it felt to be left behind. Her plan was to drink herself to death so then they, all the theys who ever abandoned her, would have to choke on her vacated atmosphere.
Being abandoned and feeling the weight of that abandonment to the point where you contemplate revenge suicide is a sad place to inhabit. Such a heartbreaking story.

Emotions are tricky beasts, Suranne. During traumatic times, a person feeling like they’re all alone can block common sense and reasoning and replace them with anxiety, guilt, and shame and this emotional cocktail can be incredibly overwhelming, difficult to manage, and feel unbearable.
And it truly is a shame when self-harm, even if it doesn’t lead to suicide, seems to be the only light at the end of the tunnel, especially when the intent is to hurt someone who hurt you. The logic behind that simply boggles the mind.
Cheers for the read and comment!

I wish Priscilla had a better idea. This doesn’t seem to carry much weight besides the sadness and hopelessness strangling it. If only despair could be reasoned out and put aside. Abandonment is a terrible feeling to deal with but it’s never the end of the road.
Vacated atmosphere is such a clever way to say it. Touching story. 🙂

And that’s the problem with being locked inside your own mind sometimes, the idea you come up with, good, bad or indifferent, seems to be the only idea, the solution to a problem.
No one likes to feel unwanted, discarded or left behind, but it’s a sad state of affairs when picking up the shattered pieces of your life, your heart, your ego or wounded pride is the harder road to travel on as compared to harming yourself as a means of revenge.
But such is the human existence.
